Review: YSL Rouge Voluptè in Rose Lingerie

There's no doubt that YSL's packaging is more than equipped to allure any unsuspecting girl into parting with her hard earned cash for yet another lippy. But who's complaining? The sleek and glamorous packaging will take pride of place on any girls dresser. I'd happily re-apply my lipstick in public if it meant whipping the golden tube and intricate detailing out!
With so many shades to chose from, picking a colour is a darn task- expect to leave the counter with a hand streaked full of pink, purple, red and orange hues! I chose Rose Lingerie, (a very typical Holly choice of shade), a delicate pink, slightly brighter than my usual nudes but not enough to steal the whole make-up show. The swatch looks pretty similar to MAC's Crème cup, but it definitely gives a brighter pop of colour in real life- not to mention the better staying power also!
Anticipate a rich application, leaving a silky radiant finish on the lips. Rouge Voluptè's pigmentation is divine, a light application will still leave the most beautiful colour. The formula is light and hydrating- although I wouldn't expect anything less for the £24.50 price tag! (ouch, it pains me to even think about how much it is!) And I wonder why my uni savings are running out so fast?!
The smell is so similar to that of the Kate Moss lipsticks for Rimmel- fruity and sweet. It's so nice to catch a whiff (very technical term there) when applying it.
In terms of staying power, it's not the best I've used. Don't expect it to still be on your lips after you've munched your way through a burger or something. But, again who cares? You get to take a glimpse of the packaging again when you re-apply!
I'm so happy that I've finally got to add the infamous golden tube to my lipstick collection. I'm such a sucker for 'pretty' things, rather than focusing on the actual product! I probably won't be going out and buying a second Rouge Voluptè anytime soon (£25 for a lipstick really does pack a punch), but I would definitely recommend taking the plunge if it's something you've lusted after for a very long time.

Ahh, I've been toying with getting one of these for ages but haven't quite managed to justify the price tag yet, I'm sure I will soon though haha. Lovely shade :) xx

DeleteI have the shade Rose Opera and I love it but it isn't quite as light as I may have preferred- Rose Lingerie looks gorgeous. I do love the packaging, definitely one you want to be flashing about!
